Handmade With Heart in Alberta

My name is Doris Dargis, and I am the owner and creative force behind A Stitch in Time, a handcrafted gift studio located on our family farm in Alberta’s Lakeland region. I have been sewing since I was about 12 years old, and eight years ago I turned that lifelong passion into a business built on creativity, quality, and meaningful connections.

I am first and foremost a wife, and together my husband and I operate a family feedlot. We are also incredibly proud grandparents to five beautiful grandchildren, who are a constant source of joy and inspiration in my life.

From Our Farm to Your Family

I’m a wife, proud grandmother of five, and together my husband and I operate our family feedlot. Family and rural life are a huge part of who I am—and they inspire much of what I create.

From luxurious Minky blankets and embroidered stuffed animals to hooded towels, hats, custom apparel, and personalized gifts, everything is thoughtfully created in my studio.

One of my favorite things is taking someone’s idea and turning it into something completely personal. Whether we’re celebrating a new baby, marking a special occasion, remembering someone special, or simply creating something you won’t find anywhere else, I love making pieces that become part of your family’s story.

Supporting Local

My love for handmade goods extends beyond my own studio. I also organize markets through Rural Roots 780 and work with Local Love events in St. Paul, helping create opportunities for other Alberta makers and small businesses.

For me, A Stitch in Time is about more than making beautiful things. It’s about craftsmanship, community, connection, and creating memories—one stitch at a time.
